Canoe and Kayak Coach Training (Sheltered Water)

British Canoeing Awarding Body Coach Pathway

Course Overview

British Canoeing Awarding Body (BCAB) Canoe and Kayak Coach Training.

The Canoe and Kayak Sheltered Water Coach Award is used by the self-employed, clubs, centres and organisations as an appropriate level of training for coaches who develop individuals paddlesports knowledge and skills in a sheltered water environment.

Location: Monmouthshire

The course will help you to plan and deliver safe, enjoyable, progressive coaching sessions and explore specifics to help you coach typical learners in the Sheltered Water Environment in Canoe and Kayak. There are no formal Personal Performance Award or Safety Award requirements, however, to get the best from your course you need to feel comfortable on your craft and be able to independently paddle on sheltered water. We recommend holding a Personal Performance Award in a canoe and kayak discipline.

Training is over two days (Unless otherwise requested) and focuses on the HOW, WHAT and WHERE to coach. Assessments can be arranged on a 1-to-1 basis once the aspirant coach feels they are ready, and all pre-requisite tasks have been met.
